YORK COLLEGE APPEARANCE
The public is invited to attend a course on “Cultural Diversity” at York College, 94-20 Guy R. Brewer Blvd., Room 4MO5, Jamaica, N.Y. Take the “E” train to Parsons Blvd & Archer Avenue. The lectures are at 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Professor Elizabeth Anderson teaches the course.
Alton Maddox will discuss “Ethnicity and Goverance.” This discussion will start with the Iroquois Confederacy and include all the major Supreme Court cases on race starting with The Antelope and including but not limited to United States v. The Amistad, Priggs v. Pennsylvania , the Slaughterhouse Cases, United States v. Cruikshank , Cummings v. Richmond v. Bd. Of Ed., Moore v. Dempsey, etc.
These Supreme Court cases represent scores of litigation involving our legal history. All of these cases explain our plight and the plight of the “ Jena 6” which will be given special attention on Tuesday, October 16. During and after Reconstruction, the leading cases that led to Jim Crow came out of Louisiana.
