Blacks Need Think Tanks Yesterday

I wrote months earlier that Black leaders should have implicated Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco in the “Jena 6” case. She had the power to pardon and to influence the appointment of a special prosecutor. By finally writing Blanco on December 21, 2007 and asking for pardons for the “Jena 6”, the Congressional Black Caucus acknowledged that I was correct.
Blanco responded by asserting that she would leave office on January 14, 2008 but that any application for a pardon had to be filed by January 17, 2008. This agency would meet on January 17. Thus, the applications would be too little too late. On September 20, 2007, silver rights leaders were knocking on the wrong door, talking to the wrong person and asking the wrong question.
After Lewis “Scooter” Libby was convicted in federal court last year, he faced jail time for lying to the FBI which was investigating the wrongful unmasking of a CIA agent. Libby was chief of staff to V.P. “Dick” Cheney. Bush 43 immediately commuted his sentence. Libby is expected to receive an executive pardon before Bush 43 leaves the Oval Office. This is the role of the executive branch of government.
Given the “Jena 6” experience and the commutation of Libby’s sentence, you would expect Black leaders in New York to be knocking on the door of Gov. Eliot Spitzer on behalf of John White. Spitzer has the executive power to pardon White. He can also appoint a special prosecutor to respond to any defense motion to vacate the conviction before sentencing. Black leaders are protecting Spitzer.
History is about to repeat itself in Suffolk County. Blacks need think tanks. Dr. Amos Wilson made the argument for Black think tanks in “Blueprint for Black Power.” This is a monumental work. He literally gave up his life to publish this blueprint. It would be shameful if we ignored it. This could be another instance of Blacks suppressing their Black architects.
I predicted, in the Amsterdam News that Black leaders would be raising the white flag in Jena, LA. There is a need to protect Gov. Blanco. We have witnessed the same modus operandi before. History is continuously repeating itself. We are using our vote to finance our oppression.
Under these circumstances, no need exists for me to continue my writings including a weekly column in the Amsterdam News. These writings are not only pro bono but it costs me personally several hundred dollars weekly to research, write, edit and publish them. In addition, an office and resources have to exist to also carry out UAM activities. I am unable to find a co-signer. My activities are day-to-day.
Black people must construct a system that will eliminate Judas goats and protection rackets. If 2007 is a barometer, our plight will only get worse in 2008. Unless we reverse this process, we are headed back into slavery.
Mexicans are being recruited to replace us and many of them are enjoying good wages. No presidential candidate including Sen. Barack Obama is talking about us or talking for us. All special interest groups are against us. Our fate must be sealed.

The new civil right in 2008 will be “animal rights.” Columbia, Yale and Harvard are in the act. They will write a course of “animal rights.” Howard University Law School launched the first civil rights course in the nation in the 1930’s.
