Can Blacks, Today, Engage in Critical Thinking?

In Carter G. Woodson’s “The Mis-education of the Negro,” he raised serious questions about the ability of Blacks acquiring a European education and, afterwards, engaging in critical thinking and legal reasoning. This is self-evident in the Black community’s lukewarm reaction to the fatal shooting of Sean Bell and the serious wounding of his companions, Joseph Guzman and Trent Benefield.
All of the thinking in this case is being done by whites like Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and attorney Sanford Rubenstein. They are engaged in policy questions. Rubenstein is representing the Black community.
All of the physical acts, like prayer vigils and marches, are led by Rev. Al Sharpton, Herbert Daughtry, et. al. This division of labor is reminiscent of the plantation. At press conferences and community meetings, Blacks serve as props. Bloomberg is in charge.
We already know that the big winner will be those who maintain the plantation system which invites “contagious shootings.” I have reached these conclusions pursuant to the teachings of our revered ancestors. To buttress my conclusion, Dr. Woodson said it best in his book:
History shows that it does not matter who is in power... those who have not learned to do for themselves and have to depend solely on others never obtain any more rights or privileges in the end than they did in the beginning.

The exclusive presence of white thinkers show that no Black leader, in New York, is capable of independent thinking. The inference to be drawn is that the Black masses have fewer mental and cognitive skills than its leaders. As a result of these observations, whites have concluded that Blacks are indeed wild animals or “heathens” as referenced in slave codes.
I am a problem solver. Life is like chess which is rooted in Africa. Every move is important. Europeans changed the game so that the white pieces move first. In life, it means that Blacks must work harder to win because whites enjoy a tactical advantage. In the Queens shooting, whites are making all of the moves. Regardless of the outcome, whites will win.
Whites will never teach Blacks African-centered critical thinking. Whites have already created mental barriers which militate against critical thinking. Those mental minefields have to be located and extirpated. There is a reason why most intelligence centers are housed in the Department of Defense.
The “Advanced Seminar on Critical Thinking and Legal Reasoning” on December 9 at City College also includes a refresher course and a Geiger counter to detect verbal risks. Dr. Woodson has called for such a seminar over ninety years ago.
This course is critical for anyone who has been thrust into leadership positions. This was the class that Woodson addressed in his book which outlines the lack of critical thinking and problem solving skills among Blacks. The status quo is only capable of being maintained if Blacks are unable to think independently and critically.
As Dr. Woodson said: “When you control a man’s thinking you do not have to worry about his actions.” As a people, we have no problem solvers. Our solutions must be crafted by others and our behavior over the next several weeks have already been crafted.
Twenty years ago in Howard Beach, I stood alone when I said a “special prosecutor or else.” Black activists would later form a choir. Today, Blacks are afraid to make a similar demand. The demand today should be international in scope.
