Freedom Party Readies for Struggle

The Petition drive for the Freedom Party will start on July 6. No signatures can be obtained before this date. At the end of the petition drive which is August 10, 2010, the Freedom Party must have collected 15,000 valid signatures in 15 congressional districts. The operative word is valid. These signatures will be reviewed by the Freedom Party, any challenger, the New York Board of Elections and the New York Supreme Court.

A valid signature means more than putting an "X" on a petition. In addition to a legible signature, there must also be a signature of a registered voter coupled with a legal address and date. These matters, among others, must be in proper, legal form. This requires a knowledge of the New York Election Law in addition to other laws and statutes.

This is pre-season. The kick-off for the regular season is July 6. In the meantime, the Freedom Party has sponsored basic training. This basic training will continue on Tuesday, June 29 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cotton Club, 656 West 125th Street in Harlem ("1" train to 125th Street) and on Wednesday, June 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Elks Plaza, 1068 Harriet Tubman (Fulton Street) nr. Classon Ave. in Brooklyn ("C" train to Franklin Ave.).

The Freedom Party must field an army of hundreds on July 6. When the clock starts ticking, the Freedom Party must be ready, set, go throughout the state including Buffalo. I will be at Five-fifty Hall, 550 Genesee Street in Buffalo on July 5. In the meantime, I will be at the Cotton Club and the Elks Plaza this week with attorneys Fred Dean and Michael Lloyd.
