Political History is in the Making
The formation of the New York Freedom democratic Party with ballot status will be a political milestone. John Russwurm, Samuel Cornish and Sen. Charles Sumner of Massachusetts are smiling spiritually. We will finally define ourselves and speak for ourselves. This signals the death of our being political pawns which is akin to being economic slaves.

Fannie Lou Hamer was a member of the Mississippi Freedom democratic Party and Rosa Parks was a member of the Michigan Freedom democratic Party. She met Malcolm X at a party function in Michigan. The New York Freedom democratic Party stands on their shoulders. Which HNIC in our "community" will take a shot at them?

The formation of a third party calls for the participation of our "best and brightest". It also calls for courage. Third party politics in this country is under attack. Proposition 14 has been directed at the demise of third parties in California. The Working Families Party is under attack in New York. Third parties militate against the status quo.

The strength of the Mississippi Freedom democratic Party will depend on the strength of organizations in the Black "community". Individuals are unable to form and maintain a third party. This is why I have called for UAM members to recommit themselves to UAM because it is already involved in myriad activities that require ample resources.

On Saturday, June 12, UAM's membership pledged to assemble a historic meeting on June 19. Based on my June 12 presentation at the Cotton Club and the package that I disseminated, a comprehensive game plan should be formulated to make UAM not only independent but also a major participant in the formation of the New York Freedom democratic Party.
The following are other important activities:

June 16 (7:00 p.m.) - A team meeting of the New York Freedom democratic Party will convene during the weekly UAM Forum at Elks Plaza, 1068 Harriet Tubman (Fulton Street) nr. Classon Ave. in Brooklyn. Take the "C" train to Franklin Ave. Walk two blocks to Elks Plaza. All organizations, so far, associated with the New York Freedom democratic Party coupled with its gubernatorial candidate, Charles Barron, and the co-chairs of the New York Freedom democratic Party, Viola Plummer and Jitu Weusi, will be present.

June 17 (noontime) - First press conference of the New York Freedom democratic Party at Sistas' Place (cor. of Nostrand and Jefferson) in Brooklyn.

June 17 (7:00 p.m.) Political workshop and training session for volunteers, who will secure signatures for the petitions of New York Freedom democratic Party, at Elks Plaza, 1068 Harriet Tubman (Fulton Street) nr. Classon Ave. in Brooklyn. Take the "C" train to Franklin Ave. Walk two blocks to Elks Plaza.

June 19 - UAM Membership Meeting - UAM's membership will provide forthwith the date, time and of this business meeting and a comprehensive game plan.
