Political Workshop in Kerhonkson

United African Movement has already sponsored several political workshops in New York City including Kings County, New York County and Queens County in addition to Buffalo in Erie County. These workshops acquaint participants with the New York Election Law.

The next political workshop will occur in Ulster County at Peg Leg Bates Country Club and Resort (Mountain Valley Resort) on Sunday, July 18 at 3:00 p.m. Some people will be coming from church services. An all-you-can eat cookout will also be occurring amid Family Day for Freedom Retreat for Boys and Girls.

Kerhonkson is approximately a 2 ½ hour drive from New York City. Take 87 North to Route 55 (Poughkeepsie). Proceed on Rt. 55 West to Rt. 209 North. From New Jersey take 17 North to 17 West. Exit on Rt. 209 North. From Newburgh (84 West) to 17 West. Exit on 209 North. Optional route from New York City is 87 North to 17 West. Exit on 209 North.

To get to Peg Leg Bates, Route 209 is the reference point. The next reference point is the only traffic light in Kerhonkson on Route 209. There is a Stewart's and a Sunoco gas station at this traffic light. If you are travelling Rt. 209 North, you will make a left turn. If you are travelling Rt. 209 South you will make a right turn.

After you make the turn, you will continue to bear left until you reach a dead end. A pasture will be facing you. You will make a left turn and continue to bear right for about twelve miles. There will be a sign for Mountain Valley Resort (Peg Leg Bates). Turn left. Continue for about two miles bearing right. Mountain Valley Resort (Peg Leg Bates) will be on the left.
