Eva Doyle Comes to New York City

Our people in New York City will get an opportunity to find out why Sis. Eva Doyle was the best kept secret in Buffalo. She was married to the late Romeo Muhammad, an original member of the Nation of Islam in Buffalo, and she worked as a teacher in the Buffalo Public Schools for more than three decades.

When you visit her website, www.evadoyle.com, you will discover, among other things, that she is a historian, an author and an activist. Her generosity includes scholarships to deserving children and awards to committed teachers. Moreover, she hosts a popular television program in addition to a popular radio program at WUFO-AM, the original, radio home of Imhotep Gary Byrd.

Sis. Doyle has insisted on paying her own freight to New York City. Since she has authored more than ten books on Black history, MAAT requires that we show an interest in them. This list and telephone number to purchase her materials is listed on her website. Hopefully, your orders will inspire her to ship them to New York City by July 11.

Sis Doyle will be at the historic, Siloam Presbyterian Church, 260 Jefferson Ave. (cor. of Marcy) in Brooklyn on Sunday, July 11 at 5:00 p.m. This rally will unveil the statewide slate of the Freedom Party. Our goal is to secure more than 150,000 signatures in twenty-one congressional districts by August 10. Take the "A" train to Nostrand.

United African Movement and its Freedom Retreat for Boys and Girls will be keys to the upstate effort of the Freedom Party. After organizing efforts in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and their environs, the focus will be on our people who are mostly concentrated in the Hudson Valley Region and the Catskill Mountains. Because of its proximity to targeted cities and towns, Freedom Retreat will also be a launching pad for the Freedom Party.

This planning for John White, the Freedom Retreat and the Freedom Party will take place at the Cotton Club, 656 West 125th Street in Harlem on Saturday, July 10 at 9:00 a.m. The success of the Freedom Party will depend on our showing up for important business meetings as opposed to entertaining ourselves with rallies.

The boys' camp will kick-off on Sunday morning at the Slave Theater with bus transportation to Kerhonkson, NY. Orientation for Freedom Retreat will also occur on Saturday morning at the Cotton Club (9:00 a.m.).

This is Freedom Summer 2010. Like in 1964, our efforts will change the political fabric of this country. Freedom Summer 1964 was a moment for activists and not pacifists. Can we afford to boycott freedom in 2010 while mindlessly financing our oppression. Staying on Saturday at home is tantamount to a boycott.
