UNITED AFRICAN MOVEMENT ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ALTON H. MADDOX, JR. TEL.: (718) 834-9034 CHAIRMAN FAX : (718) 884-8241 P.O. BOX 35 BRONX, NY 10471 Freedom Party Launches "Operation Blitz" To secure ballot status in New York, a political party must secure 50,000 votes in a gubernatorial election. The mandatory, condition precedent is necessary to secure 15,000 signatures in 15 congressional districts in New York which has 29 congressional districts. A minimum of 100 valid signatures must be submitted from 15 congressional districts. A political campaign is like sudden death in football. The clock is ticking. This political tug-of-war will end on August 10. Each second is precious. In football, you can call time-out and the clock stops ticking. We are up against a clock that will continue to tick until August. There are no timeouts. In this effort, the Freedom Party will never be able to turn back the hand of time.
For anyone who is seeking to flee this political plantation, there must be a daily goal. Everyday, an effort should be made by all Blacks to secure at least 10 signatures on independent nominating petitions. These signatures can be easily gathered in the neighborhood, in the workplace and at social, political and religious gatherings.
New York City has over eight million denizens. At least one hundred thousand residents should be ready to sign this petition. If we achieve this goal by August 10, it will send a shock wave throughout New York's political community. Let's get busy.
On this weekend, July 24-25, the Freedom Party intends an all-out blitz. The strategy is to hit all the hotspots. This will include, but not be limited to, flourishing commercial zones, social events and religious services. Our goal should be to collect at least 50,000 signatures this weekend in New York City alone.
Out of the top 15 congressional districts in New York with the most Blacks residing in them, nine of these congressional districts are in New York City. The other six congressional districts are as far away as Albany and Buffalo. Two are on Long Island.
We must be active in all of them this weekend. Blacks in Buffalo have set up a well-oiled political machine with a goal of securing 10,000 valid signatures in the 28th Congressional District. They also intend to meet the minimum statutory requirements in the two adjoining congressional districts. Buffalo is on the move.
Anyone who is interested in participating in "Operation Blitz" this weekend in New York City should contact me immediately at 718-834-9034 ormaddoxalton@netzero.net. This will allow us to set up interim, strategic distribution centers in New York City. This operation will continue throughout the weekend with variable targets. Serious efforts must also be afoot in other congressional districts.
